Paddle Blind and Spectacle Blind and Blind Pipeline System

Spectacle Blind Structure and Application

Spectacle blind: the safety guardian in piping system. The spectacle blind, as a common piping tool, plays a vital role in the piping system of chemical, pharmaceutical, food and other industries. Its unique design and superior performance make it an important means of ensuring production safety and preventing material leakage.

Spectacle blind, also known as figure 8 blind, is named for its unique figure 8 design. It is widely used in piping systems, playing an important role in isolation and connection. This steel plate is skillfully divided into two discs, which maintain a fixed thickness and are connected by flat steel. One disc is solid, while the other forms a hollow ring with an inner aperture that fits the flange, ensuring the safety and smoothness of the piping system.

Spectacle blind plays an important role in piping systems, which often need to be isolated from other facilities or installations. During normal operation, spectacle blind are usually open, allowing fluid to flow smoothly through the pipeline. However, when there is a need to close the pipe or block the fluid, spectacle blind is rotated to the closed position.

Paddle Blind Characteristics and Useful

Paddle Blind

Paddle blinds, also known as Spade blinds, are similar in design to figure-of-spectacle blind, but they are independent of each other and are not connected. This blind and gasket combination is typically used for piping systems that do not require frequent maintenance or for large diameter piping. Paddle blinds may weigh several hundred pounds due to the different pipe diameters and pressure ratings.

A paddle gasket, also known as a Spacer, is often used with a paddle blind in pipeline maintenance. The paddle blind and spacer are easily replaced by loosening all the bolts and temporarily removing some of the bolts during maintenance. Once the gasket has been replaced, the bolts can be reassembled and tightened.

Maintaining system safety and ease of operation are key objectives in the design of the paddle blind and paddle gasket combination, ensuring that the normal operation of the overall piping system is not compromised during maintenance.

The ASME B16.48 standard details the requirements for line blinds from 1/2″ through 24″ in terms of pressure, temperature, material, dimensions, tolerances, marking and testing. These line blinds are designed for use with ASME B16.5 flanges.
